Presence Memorial HospitalGillian
Evans needed to see Iris
Torres! She needed to warn her about her parents,
and that they would be coming that day. She looked at
her watch and saw that it was still early in the
morning. She had just been chatting with Jake
Geary,
so she was a ways away from her room. Gillian
turned a corner and spotted her friend’s room. And a
couple in their fifties stood at the door. No!
Gillian screamed in her head, stopping in the hall. I’m
too late!
“Are you alright, dear?” Vivian Torres stepped into her daughter’s hospital room. “You’re surprised, aren’t you?” Iris
couldn’t speak. Her hands began to shake, and she was
having problems focusing on her parents. “I – I
–” Bo
Torres pushed past his wife and up to Iris. His face was
stone, and kept a fixed look of anger. “Daddy,
I didn’t know…” “So,”
Bo began, looking around the hospital room. “How does
it feel to be on the other end?” Tom Residence Jake
Geary was pacing back and forth in his living room. He
had a knuckle in his mouth, thinking out loud. He then
moved to the opposite side of the room. He grabbed a
picture off a coffee table. “Kassie,”
he muttered. “This isn’t me. You aren’t me.” He
placed Kassie’s picture back on the table. Swiss
Flight: To San Francisco “Is
everything alright?” Greg asked Kassie
Tom on the plane. The flight had just taken off from
Switzerland, and was headed back to the U.S. “Uh…
yes,” Kassie replied weakly. Her mind was still
clouded with thoughts of the men who had attacked her.
The men who bought her tickets for that flights. They
wanted her away. “You
just look tired.” Greg looked around the cabin.
“Isn’t it an interesting coincidence we met up
again?” Kassie
looked up. “You did say you were leaving the morning
after you arrived.” “Did
you deal with your father?” Greg asked. “Did they
find his body from the crash?” Kassie’s
mind was still groggy. “No. They will notify us and
fly the body over.” “It’s
a shame,” Greg sighed. “I can’t believe… what
the…?” Greg was shocked as he looked at Kassie. His
eyes were wide open. “What
is it?” Kassie asked. “Blood…”
Greg stuttered. “You have blood on you coat.” Presence
Police Department “Good,
God! This place is filthy!” Julian
King spoke as he and his wife, Constance
King,
walked into the Presence Police Department jail. “This
is where the scum of the town are brought,” Constance
reminded her husband. “If
these men are wrong about our son, they are going to
have a lawsuit hit them so hard…” Julian was just so
mad that Adam had been arrested. “Have you seen
the paper? The press is running rampant like crazed
emus.” “Emus?”
Constance shook her head and went up to the desk. Julian
followed. “Or whatever animals run wild.” “We’d
like to talk to Adam King.
He was brought in yesterday.” “I’m
sorry,” the officer said. “We can’t allow you to
see him.” Evans
Residence Addy
Evans stood in the home she shared with her
daughter, Gillian. She moved across the room and up to a
bookcase. “I
have loved you since I can remember…” she whispered. Addy
reached up and grabbed a large photo album. She opened
it to the first page, and there was the picture of a
well-dressed man. “Oh,
Eric…” she sighed. “I miss you so much. And I know
Gillian does, too. Rest in peace…” Presence Memorial HospitalGillian
knew that Iris’s parents had arrived. Gillian,
you have really done it this time!
she thought to herself. You are going to have to let
Iris deal with her parents. Gillian
walked in the opposite direction, hoping that Iris was
avoiding her family for some trivial reason. Something
they could all work through.
“Bo!”
Vivian cried out. “How could you say such a thing to
Iris? “She
has been avoiding the subject since she left college! I
want to know why she has. She needed to be reminded of
how thankful she should be.” “Daddy…
I know what…” Iris was terrified. She had been
avoiding this moment her whole adult life. And now it
was coming back to haunt her. “You
don’t know!” he yelled out. “You have no idea what
you’ve done to this family. Me, your mother, and your
brother have come.” Iris
was shocked. “Brother…?” “Hey,
sis…” came a voice. “We haven’t seen each other
in a long time.” “Wyle. Nice to see you.” Iris couldn’t take all the revelations. Her
father. Her mother. And now her brother. Tom Residence “Kassie,”
Jake spoke out loud, as if talking to Kassie. “Gillian
thinks I’m a creep. And I know you aren’t the one
for me. I’ve known it since we moved in together.
There’s no spice. No flair.” Jake
had made up his mind. It was something he needed to do.
Something he had to do. “I’m
leaving,” he said, “and I’m not coming back.” Swiss
Flights: To San Francisco “Blood?”
Kassie asked, looking down at her coat. “I… I have
no idea where that came from.” “Are
you sure?” Greg asked. Kassie
thought. She tried to retrace her steps, but a part of
her memory seemed to have been blocked out. Had
something happened? “It
must have been a spill of some sort. It isn’t anything
serious.” Greg
nodded. “All right, then. Well, on a completely
different topic, it is supposed to be clear weather all
the way. There shouldn’t be any unexpected events
occurring like that power outage last time.” Greg sat
back. “Nothing will go wrong.” “Everyone!”
came a loud, male voice from one of the seats. “We are
hijacking this plane!” Presence
Police Department “Excuse
me?” Julian
exclaimed. “Do you know who I am? I’m Julian King. I
suggest you let me see my son.” The
officer immediately got up. “I’m very sorry Mr.
King. I had no idea. We have just been getting so many
members of the press arriving. We need to be
cautious.” Julian
barged past and an armed officer let then enter the jail
area. They spotted Adam talking to his lawyer, Tomas. “Son!”
Julian called out. “You ready for your trial today?” “Yes,”
Adam answered, turning from Tomas. “Especially since
the evidence isn’t conclusive. We can prove that it is
all circumstantial.” “Great,”
Julian said. “They have selected the jury, Tomas?” Tomas
nodded. “Adam?”
Constance asked. “All the evidence is inconclusive.
But did you do it?” Adam
didn’t answer the question. He turned back to Tomas. Evans Residence Addy
placed the album back on the shelf as soon as Gillian
entered the house. “Addy?”
Gillian called out. “Don’t you have a brunch set up
with Giovanni?” Addy
turned back to her daughter. “No. I cancelled since I
had some work I needed to complete. I have to order some
scaled models of San Francisco and Sacramento for
‘Natural Exposure’s advertising campaign.” Gillian
nodded. “That job had been keeping you busy since
–” “I
know. Since your father died.” “At
least you’re spending less time with Giovanni.”
Gillian still didn’t like her mom dating a younger
man. Gillian walked across the room and stepped up to
the calendar. “The anniversary is in a few days.” Addy
nodded. “I know.” Gillian
liked her father, and this date was especially painful
for her. “Are we going to pay our respects?” “Yes.” Gillian
left the room, looking back to her mother. She was
hiding her face. Gillian could hear light sobs as she
climbed the stairs. It was painful for her mother, too.
