Presence Memorial Hospital

Iris Torres was tossing and turning in her hospital bed. She had her eyes closed and was in the middle of a terrible nightmare.

Iris walks around her room, talking on the phone with Gillian. She hears a strange sound and turns around. She spots a masked man!

“No!” she screams, trying to run away.

He grabs her, and then spins her around. Iris looks into his eyes. She reaches out to unmask the man. She pulls off the ski mask and…

Adam King!

“No!” Iris jotted up from her bed, breathing deeply, panting. “Adam, no!”

Gillian Evans was shocked at what Iris’ mother, Vivian Torres, had said on the phone. Had Vivian just called out for someone by the nickname of “Honey”? Was it her husband? Iris told me her father was dead.

Vivian came back on the line. “We’ll be there.”

“Who was that you were talking to?” Gillian asked.

“Pardon?” Vivian responded, confusion in her voice. “Who was it? My husband of course. Iris does want her father there, right?”

Gillian’s face flushed. “Uh, why of course… she does. Why wouldn’t she want to…?”

“Great.” With that, Vivian hung up. Gillian stood in the hospital halls, unable to speak.

Consuelos Residence

“The vinegar isn’t doing any good,” Mateo Consuelos exclaimed, waving the thin jar beneath Skye Lore’s nose. “What could have happened to her?”

Dean Consuelos looked up from staring at Mateo’s record collection. “Uh, I have no idea.”

From Episode 1-05:

“[Dean] took a glass out of the wooden cupboard and brought it to the tap at the sink. He filled it with cool water… He then placed the water on the table. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a tiny vial of a clear liquid.”

“All she did was drink her water,” Mateo said, and then turned to his brother. “She must have been too excited when she was accusing you of all those things. Head rush, probably.”

Dean looked at Mateo tapping Skye’s cheeks. “C’mon, ‘Teo. I think its best you let her rest. Maybe this is good for her. She may need to rest.”

Mateo got up and looked at his brother. “What is it with you. Ever since she has been giving these, by your account, ‘false’ accusations, you have been getting defensive. And now you seem to want her to stay out.”

“For her health,” Dean said, unmoving.

Mateo walked up to his brother. “Y’know. I am beginning to believe her more than I believe you. She makes much more sense. Too bad she fainted before she could tell me you employment.”

“How many times do I have to say that she is a wacko?”

“Or maybe she’s right and you’re not. You’re toting a gun around with you. I wouldn’t be the least surprised to learn that you used it to kill someone.”

San Francisco: Alley

A swarm of San Francisco officers were gathered around the body of a dead man. They were discussing the fact that the death had been a shooting, and that he was most likely a drug customer.

They were determined to find the killer.

Switzerland: Swiss Flights Head Office

“Come in,” Ken Swenson, the Swiss Flights manager, called out to his surprise visitors. “I’ve been expecting you.”

Two men in dark overcoats walked into the office, wearing dark shades. The visible part of their faces placed them each at around 40 years of age, Caucasian. They kept their facial expressions to themselves.

“We have come for the information you have received from Drew Tom. The information is of infinite value to us.”

Ken nodded. “Right here.”

“And Kassadine Tom, his daughter, did you take care of her?” The first man stepped up to Ken’s desk, while the other secured the door. “How is she?”

Ken shifted uncomfortably. “She is determined to find out what happened to her father.”

“You did not kill her? A daughter will not give up until the truth it told!”

The second man told Ken’s secretary to go home, and she abided without question.

“I had the gun ready,” Ken said, stepping up. “I would have used it. All I told her was that I knew nothing, and that she should contact the ICAO. She is a nice woman, though. Very beautiful.”

The first man shook his head. “You have a weakness, I see. And I believe she has had contact with her mother. She is a great risk.”

Ken turned his head and popped his head into a filing cabinet behind his desk. “I’ll get the files.”

“You keep them in an unlocked cabinet?” the first man asked.

“No one can find them,” Ken answered. He continued shuffling.

You are too much of a risk, Mr. Swenson, the first man thought. He pulled out a gun from his coat and raised it at Ken’s turned head. And we won’t tolerate such things here. No risks.

Switzerland: Airport Hotel

Kassie paced around. She knew that Mr. Swenson, the manager, was up to something. He seemed so weird with her. It was as if he was hiding something.

“And I will find out,” she whispered.

Giovanni’s Apartment

Giovanni Pike slipped in on his semi-fancy dress shirt. He was wearing a light pair of khaki pants, and was all ready for his date with Addy Evans.

“Adrienne,” he whispered to himself. “This is going to be a wonderful evening. And your daughter won’t be on my mind.”

He picked up a slip of paper with ‘Pacific Grill’ written in boldface type. It was a restaurant in Presence, not far from the Burger Hut, but much classier.

He was all dressed and ready to go.

Presence Memorial Hospital

Gillian stood in the hall, still shocked by the news.

Has Iris been lying to me about her mother? She asked herself. Or did her mother remarry? Why did Iris never say anything?

All these questions plagued Gillian as she walked down the hospital hall to Iris’ room. She wasn’t quite sure what she would say to Iris to get everything straight. Iris may not have wanted to see her parents.

Gillian knew that by inviting her parents to Presence she had done something wrong.

“Did you hear what happened this morning…?” The hushed voice of a nurse talking to another nurse was within an earshot to Gillian. “…Adam King was arrested for Iris Torres’ stabbing!”

“Really?” said the second nurse. “Who have thought? A King. Those rich people are no better than they say they are. But isn’t Ms. Torres a patient here?”

“Yep, Over in room 101. Doing well.”

Gillian had heard all she needed to hear. She hurried to Iris’ room, and took a deep breath before passing through the doorway.

“Gillian,” Iris said, turning to her friend. “What were you doing?”

Gillian turned her head, and walked to the opposite corner of the room. She brushed some hair from her eyes, and took a deep breath.

“Walking,” she half-lied. “But I heard something concerning you. They have arrested a man in connection to your stabbing.”

Iris’ eyes opened wide with excitement. “Really? Who?”

Gillian turned back to her friend. “Adam. They got him.”

Switzerland: Swiss Flights Head Office

“The file is right here,” Ken spoke, unaware of the gun at his head. “One sec… There! Got it.”

Ken spun around to stare down the barrel of a gun. His eyes changed from pride to fear.

“What he hell are you doing?” he exclaimed, staring up at the first man.

“Risk.” A simple response for whom the man regarded as a simple man. “And we won’t tolerate risk here.”

“I did what you said. I followed orders. What more could you expect?”

The swift shot up the gun was released and shot through Ken’s skull. The silencer blocked the noise from any other offices in the wing.

Ken’s eyes were locked in a state of confusions as blood seeped through the wound. The body slumped lifelessly against the chair.

San Francisco: Doctor’s Office

Darla Tom and Robert Carlyle sat in the doctor’s office, waiting for the doctor to return. Darla’s eyes were red, and she sniffled frequently.

“Darla,” Robert began. “Everything will be fine. A simple procedure will get it all over with. Then you’ll be able to get on with your life. Our life.”

Darla shook her head. “I’m fifty-one. And this has happened.” She paused. “I could never be forgiven for something like this. The have gone against the Lord, and everything He’s taught me.”

“Darla…”

“Robert!” she exclaimed. “I got pregnant with you, and you’re not my husband!”

Consuelos Residence

“Mateo, you believe that I could kill someone?” Dean was shocked.

Mateo shook his head. “I don’t know what to believe. All I know is that you’re not telling me a lot of things. Skye is the only one who has given me a glimpse into your life, be it true or otherwise.” Mateo looked up at his brother. “Answer me this: What is your job?”

Dean paused. “My job? Uh, look at what has happened to Skye. And you’re asking me about my job.” His voice was unsure. “Lets move her to the guest room. The couch is where I’m sleeping tonight.”

Mateo agreed, but knew his brother was ignoring the question. He could see it in his eyes. Nonetheless, they both lifted Skye up and moved her to her room. They placed her on the bed.

At the door, Mateo turned around to his brother. “You are avoiding the topic.” Mateo closed the door, and once again turned to Dean. “You’re going to give me some answers. Now.”

Presence Memorial Hospital

“Adam?” Iris said, completely shocked. “They… how… Why did they?”

Gillian shook her head. “I don’t know.” She left a moment of silence before starting again. “Though, you mentioning him to the police could have caused it.”

Iris shook her head. “I didn’t say anything incriminating. Only that he was at ‘Natural Exposure’ that night. That is all.”

“I don’t know anything more, “ Gillian said. “But I can find out for you.”

“I…” Iris stammered. “I know he is a good man. He was always nice to me.”

“You never know with some people,” Gillian pointed out.

Iris closed her eyes…

Flashback: Iris’ View:

Everything around is dark, and we see the sole body of Iris. She is much younger, in her teenage years. She is crying. She is speaking through the sobs. “What have I done…? What have I done…?”

“He could have never done this.” Iris’ eyes glossed over, and her face showed an innocence and fear in the face of a little child. “A sweet, kind man.”

Gillian looked into the eyes of her friend. She hated seeing her like this.

“What is wrong with me?” Iris blurted out. “I can’t judge people right. He was so kind and gentle. How could I ever trust anyone again?”

Gillian put her arm around Iris. “You can trust people, Iris. Don’t beat yourself up now.”

“I know I can trust you, Gillian,” Iris said calmly. “You are the only person I trust.”

Gillian’s face flooded with worry, knowing that she was keeping from her friend. And it could devastate her in this condition.

Pacific Grill

Giovanni sat waiting at a table in the middle of the restaurant. The entire place gave off a warm, safe feeling. The atmosphere was light.

His mind quickly moved to Gillian. He didn’t know what was wrong with him, and he knew Gillian hated her mother. He had witnessed one of their fights first-hand. Why was she on his mind?

“Giovanni?” came the voice of Addy. “What are you thinking about?”

Giovanni immediately jumped out of his trance. “Adrienne, you are looking beautiful as ever.”

Addy blushed and took a seat across from her date. “Thank you very much. Have you ordered yet?” She wore a slim-fitting purple dress.

“Not yet,” he answered. “The waiter will be over any minute now.”

Addy nodded and focused on her menu. Giovanni had made up his mind, but stared at Addy’s red hair. It was just like her daughter’s.

“Giovanni?” Addy asked again. “What Gillian said to me the other day has been nagging at me. Do you think I’m too old for you? Our ages are significantly different.”

Giovanni shook his head. “Of course not,” he said. “Gillian, you mean everything to me.”

Addy’s eyes opened wide with shock and disbelief. “Why did you just call me ‘Gillian’?”

Kassie had made up her mind. She was going back to the manager’s office to get some answers. She was so sure there was something being kept from her.

Switzerland: Swiss Flights Head Office

“Faster,” said the first man. “This place needs to be cleaned up. Fast.”

The second man was busy cleaning the bloodstain on the wall. “I’m going as fast as I can. Hopefully, no one is planning on visiting poor Mr. Swenson. Or else they’re in for deadly surprise.”

Doctor’s Office

“How you doing?” the doctor asked as she entered the room. “I’m Dr. Riley. You’ve made an appointment regarding your pregnancy, Mrs. Tom?”

Darla nodded. “Yes, but I am very unsure.”

“Decisions like these aren’t to be taken lightly. They are serious. Of what nature is your problem?”

“Religious,” Darla stated firmly. “But I can’t keep this child. I’m pretty much past my prime age, and my beliefs are clashing. I am torn at what to do.”

“I’m afraid I can’t consult you on such matters. How about you call me later this week about you final decision. I will be able to contact the right people.” Dr. Riley got up ad moved to the opposite side of the room.

Darla knew she had to make a decision. A decision that would affect her entire life.

Consuelos Residence

“I don’t owe you any answers,” Dean shot back. “You are living a good life. You have everything you need. Why question it?”

“Where is my money coming from?” Mateo asked.

“Me,” Dean replied.

“I know that.

“Then why ask?”

Mateo was annoyed. “Why aren’t you answering? Dammit, I invite you into my home, feed you, and you give me not even a simple answer in return.”

“You mean my home?” Dean retorted.

“It is under my name,” Mateo quipped. “Therefore, mine.”

Dean didn’t reply.

“Is Skye right? Are you a murderer? You have just told me she’s crazy, and you haven’t even put up a defense. Did you?”

“Shut up!” Dean exclaimed, pointing his finger at Mateo. “If you don’t be quiet, I’ll do to you what I did to Skye!”
