Evans Residence

The cool evening breeze blew through Gillian Evan’s red hair. She had just returned from the hospital from visiting her friend Iris Torres.

Was inviting Iris’s parents the right thing to do? Gillian thought. She was obviously covering up something. Maybe she isn’t close to them. Maybe her parents hate her.

“Stop it…” Gillian told herself. “On the phone, Iris’s mom seemed worried. She had to care.”

And her father? The thought hadn’t crossed her mind. Maybe she hates her father, and that’s way she told me her was dead.

Gillian clasped her hands on her mailbox to get a breath. Her eyes were closed, in deep thought.

Her eyes opened back up, and as she lifted her hand from the mailbox; consequently, she spotted a letter buried deep at the bottom.

“A message,” Gillian sighed. “For me, or is it for my – mother?”

She saw ‘GILLIAN’ scrawled on the front of the envelope, and proceeded to open it…

Tom Residence

Jake Geary was lying awake in his bed. Something he did those past days was plaguing him…

Flashback from episode 1-02:

“Jake walked over to the kitchen counter and took a pen and some paper. He then crossed over to the kitchen table and sat down, placing the beer a foot from the papers. He wrote: ‘From you secret admirer…’

“Jake took the written note and slipped it into the rectangular fold of paper. He signed the envelope with the pen he used to write it… ‘GILLIAN.’”

“It is for the best…” he whispered, turning over in the bed to where Kassie Tom, his girlfriend, usually slept. “And I’m sorry, Kass, but I had to…”

Presence Memorial Hospital

Iris couldn’t sleep. After Gillian had given her the information regarding Adam King’s arrest, it was all she could think about.

“He didn’t do it…” She was so sure that he couldn’t have stabbed her. But what did she know? “Could I have been fooled by him? Did he really have the urge to kill?”

A sudden knock startled Iris from her thoughts. She turned to the door. There stood a well dressed man.

“May I help you?” Iris asked. “Visiting times are over, you know?”

“I am well aware,” he said. “But I have some important matters to discuss.”

“They have to wait for tomorrow. Right now…”

The man came closer. “I’m Leo Preston.”

Iris eyes him cautiously. “Good for you. I’m Very Sleepy. Please leave.”

“I’m here on behalf of Adam King,” he began. “I’m here to discuss with you the seriousness of what he has been charged…”

Switzerland: Swiss Flights Head Office

Kassie Tom walked up to the head office where Ken Swenson, the Swiss Flights manager, worked. She had been given unsatisfactory answers on her first visit and wasn’t going to give up.

As she neared the secretary’s desk, a terrible chill came over her. She smoothed out her white sweater and blue jeans. She shook off the chill, and turned to the door.

“Mr. Swenson?” she called through the wooden door. “I need to talk to you.”

She heard rustling inside, but no answer.

No man is going to hide from me, Kassie thought. No one’s going to keep information from me and get away with it.

Kassie swung the door open, and was greeted by a strange, dark man. He grabbed her arm.

“May I help you?” he asked forcefully.

Kassie pulled her arm away. “Yes, is Mr. Swenson in? I have something to talk to him about.”

“He left.”

Kassie rubbed her arm since the man had grabbed her quite forcefully. “I need to…” She paused as she lifted her hands to her eyes.

She opened her eyes wide with shock, and then looked at the man who was not pleased.

Her arm was covered in blood.

Presence Police Department: Jail

“How are you?” asked Tomas as he came to visit his client, Adam King. “You ready for tomorrow?”

Adam looked up. He was unshaven, and he had removed his sports coat.

“After a day in jail? Perfect.” He was, of course, being sarcastic, and Tomas knew it immediately.

“Well, we go to court tomorrow regarding the charge and show cause. They will bring all their evidence, and we will counter it.”

Adam shook his head. “I didn’t do it.”

“Don’t worry about a thing,” Tomas said, smiling. “We are making sure that any witnesses against you are told the real story. And, believe me, you will get off – if you did it or not.”

Pacific Grill

“Did you just call me ‘Gillian’?” Addy Evans has just burst out at Giovanni Pike.

Why did I say her daughter’s name? Giovanni thought quickly.

“She – she was just on my mind. She does have some resentment towards you. Remember yesterday when she burst out? I was just thinking about that.”

Addy looked at him carefully, but shrugged it off. “I believe you. I just don’t want anything she said affecting you.”

“I love you,” Giovanni said, holding Addy’s hand. “No one will stop me from being with you, Adrienne.”

He did enjoy Addy’s company, but there was something about Gillian...

Doctor’s Office

Robert Carlyle pulled Darla Tom out from the doctor’s office. Darla could tell by the glint in his eye that he had a plan.

“Darla,” he began. “This baby you are carrying, are you sure it's mine? Could it belong to Drew, your husband?”

Darla shook her head. “Drew and I hadn’t been very close the last few months. We haven’t been intimate.”

Robert nodded. “That’s why you came to me.”

Darla nodded, placing her hands in her face. “God. What kind of mess have I gotten myself into?”

“There is,” Robert began, “a way we can get around this. And there will be no abortion problems to deal with. And no shame of people knowing you had an affair.”

Darla eyed Robert curiously. “What are you getting at?”

Robert excitedly peered down each hall in the doctor’s office, to check if anyone was coming. “It's perfect…” His eyes widened and a confident smile rested on his lips.

Consuelos Residence

“Shut up!” Dean Consuelos exclaimed, pointing his finger at his brother, Mateo. “If you don’t be quiet, I’ll do to you what I did to Skye!

Mateo’s face showed an expression of shock. “What did you do to Skye? Are you responsible for her current state?"

Don’t say anything, Dean told himself. He doesn’t need to know.

Dean turned away from his brother, then looked at Skye, lying on the bed…

Skye’s dream:

Skye was standing admits flame. It was as if she was standing within the depths of Hell. The flames licked at her body, but it did not burn.

A gunshot was heard. Skye jotted her head around.

Deep breathing. A siren rang out. More breathing. Footsteps approached, running quickly. More breathing.

“Oh, God… oh, God… oh, God…” A familiar male voice repeated the same words over and over. “Oh, God…”

As Skye looked forward, she saw a figure step out of the flame. Breathing. Footsteps. Sirens.

It was Dean.

Consuelos Residence

“What I did to Skye?” Dean asked, upset at his slip of the tongue. “I will – yell at you, of course. I’ll treat you like I treated Skye.”

Mateo eyed his strangely. “Are you sure that is it.”

“Of course!” Dean stormed out of the room, and into the kitchen. He rested his head on the fridge, and hit it with his fist. He clasped his forehead with his palm.

Skye’s dream:

It looked as if Dean was being chased. He was breathing, and there were sirens. Dean pulled out a gun, and then let out three shots. Then he got up and continued to run.

Dean’s figure dissipated in front of her, and then a scene of a body lying on the ground flooded into view. Police taking pictures. Taking notes.

A series of images flooded into view. San Francisco Bay. A gun. A body. Drugs. Dean. An officer. An evidence bag. Handcuffs. Courtroom. A jail cell.

It all made sense to her…

Evans Residence

Gillian read the message her secret admirer had written her.

“Well,” she began, “I want to see the person who wrote this message, and tell them what I think.”

Gillian looked at her watch, and decided it was time for bed. She had also decided to see Iris tomorrow. And to see if her parents had arrived.

Tom Residence

Jake rolled over in the bed. He was restless. He had something to do the next day.

“Gillian,” he said. “I hope you’ll be at the hospital tomorrow during my rounds. You mean everything to me.” He looked over again to the picture of Kassie.

His emotions confused him. He wasn't sure Kassie was the woman he was meant to be with.

Presence Memorial Hospital: Iris’s Room

“I know the seriousness of the charge,” Iris shot back to the lawyer. “I don’t need an overpaid, suit-wearing, smug-looking lawyer to tell me that.”

Leo Preston adjusted his tie. “Adam King has been charged with assault. We know you didn’t see him stab you. You saw no one. We need to make sure you mention that if you are to testify.”

Iris looked at the man. “What? Get out of my room. I will give my own damn testimony. I don’t need anyone to help me along. Especially a lawyer.”

“Mr. King is innocent. You do know that.”

“You are a lawyer…” Iris began, pointing to the door. “A big, steaming, pile of lawyer. Get out. Isn’t it illegal what you’re doing?”

Mr. Preston shook his head. “I am only telling you to tell the truth.”

“Get out, and that’s the truth.”

Mr. Preston nodded, and turned to leaved the room. “Remember,” he began, “the Kings practically own this town. And ‘Natural Exposure.’ Don’t upset them.”

Doctor’s Office

“What is perfect?” Darla demanded. Robert stood there with a sly smile on his face.

“You and Drew hadn’t been intimate, right?” Robert asked. “He would have known if this baby was his or not.”

Darla nodded, wary of what he was going to say.

“But he is,” Robert paused, “presumed dead at the moment. And, God help him, most likely dead. He can’t say anything, can he?”

“What are you trying to say?” Darla demanded, making sure none of the nurses heard her.

“I’m saying,” Robert whispered, “that anyone will believe this is Drew’s child. How could they know any different?”

“You’re not saying we…”

Robert nodded. “I am saying exactly that. We’re going to pass this child off as your husband’s, and no one will be the wiser.”

Switzerland: Swiss Flights Head Office

Blood covered her hands. Kassie looked up at the man and saw he himself was covered with the red liquid.

“My God…” Kassie stepped back, horrified. “You…”

Kassie saw past the man blocking the door. She saw the splatter of blood on the wall behind the desk.

“I…” she couldn’t get the words out. All she saw was the swift movement of the man in front of her.

And the sharp electric pain on the back of her neck as she fell to the ground unconscious.
